  1. add some watermelon and fresh lime juice along with ice for a summertime treat. you can doll it up with yogurt but I like it better as a "virgin" margharita.

  2. Wash the whole berries and put them on a cookie sheet in the freezer.  When they're frozen, put them into freezer zip-lock baggies and use as ice cubes......

    1/2 - 1 c. juice or water or flavored water

    1-2 scoops strawberry yogurt (or frozen yogurt)

    4-5 frozen strawberries (or fresh strawberries & ice cubes)

    Put in the blender and blend ..........

  3. Energetic Strawberry Smoothie:

    INGREDIENTS

        * 1 (8.3 ounce) can citrus flavored energy drink (e.g. Red Bull™)

        * 2 cups frozen strawberries

    DIRECTIONS

       1. In the container of a blender, combine the energy drink and frozen strawberries. Blend until smooth and creamy, about 1 minute. Add some water if blending is difficult. Pour into 2 big glasses.

  4. For breakfast I put about 5 strawberries, ice (or I sometimes use frozen strawberries), some low fat yogurt, and some milk. I think this is good, but it's nothing fancy.

  5. blend strawberrys with the ice

  6. You can process some strawberries in the blender, add a little sugar if they aren't quite sweet, and fill ice cube trays with the strawberry mix. When the cubes are frozen, allow to defrost slightly and blend with just enough juice or fruit tea to make it slushy. This way you don't have to add ice to your slushy which always makes it taste watery.

    Or for a really delicious smoothie, use vanilla yogurt as the base and add in your strawberries. We like to add a few drops of vanilla flavor & a touch of sugar to give it that creamy taste almost like a milkshake. You can freeze the berries so that when you add them (slightly defrosted)  they make the smoothie thick and frosty.

    If you want to add other fruits, bananas and watermelon are good complementary flavors for strawberry, as is peach or mango. And it sounds weird, but sweet potato is fantastic in smoothies - just a little makes the blend creamy and adds nutrients. Nut butters are great additions for protein and flavor.

    For something a little different and really yummy, try adding a tablespoon of finely minced mint leaves.

    Of course if you want to go really healthy you can add wheatgrass, kale or other healthy greens, wheatgerm, and use a less processed natural sweetener like rapadura or molasses, etc.

    Many people enjoy coconut milk in their smoothies, it's nice and thick and has a fabulous flavor and silky texture. There's some evidence that the coconut oil it contains has benefits.
