Are there any good alternatives to Comcast for cable TV/internet in mid-Michigan (East Lansing, MI)?

I live in East Lansing, MI, and have used Comcast for my cable TV and internet service for the past year or so. Our contract is expiring and I want to know about some alternatives because Comcast's service has been terrible (internet constantly out, choppy TV) and the support worse (4 new modems and multiple new wires solve nothing). I don't know what else exists in the area other than Direct TV, does anyone have any suggestions?

I don't know but I wish someone would find a solution.  I have comcast for internet/cable.  Seems Comcast has a monopoly in the area and there charges are ridiculous.
