Are there any good beaches in Texas?

Question

That are at most a 4 hr drive from Houston? I prefer a beach with pretty sand and clear water. Been to Galveston-sand is littered with dead seaweed and gray water. Corpus Christi & Padre Island-pretty sand, but the water is dark blue at best.

south padre is nice... but galveston is gross. If you want good beaches texas isn't the spot.

I don't think there are any clear water beaches in TX.  I spent almost a week in Corpus Christi this summer and it seems like the water varies a little in different areas.  The part I was at most was really nice and we even saw some dolphins!  If you're looking for something really clear, you'll probably have to travel somewhere more tropical.  I lived in Puerto Rico & El Salvador for a while and there's a huge difference in the water, you can't even compare.  You guys are lucky in TX though, I'm from CA and you don't even want to get into the water here, it's so cold!

i live n houston...an no we dont have any good beaches..ours are like giant tolilet bowls...theyre disgusting.....i would perfer cali or florida...or hawaii....lol.....

Naw, you might be disappointed, better off goin to California or Florida for white sandy beaches...
