Are there any good non-religious based resources for dealing with approval addiction?

Please do not answer if you're just going to make derogatory remarks about my non-religious requirement. Let's keep it civil. Joyce Meyers' book is Christian based, and thus is not going to be considered. I'm open to suggestions other than "seek god" c**p.

  1. I don't seek out such things with an exception. If you really want resources for helping with your/whoevers addiction then you'll be more apt to suceed in overcoming your addiction if seeking/trying out all resources as possible.

  2. The symptoms of  "approval addiction" look to me like garden-variety low self-esteem  and assertiveness issues, that any secular therapist could help you with.  I think Joyce Meyers invented the term (and her "cure") to capitalize on the evangelical market.

Here is a link to a series of articles from Psychology Today that might be useful in the meantime.  Good luck!
