  1.   "And for the smart *** out there - who are you to judge me!?"

By this question, are you refering to the statement made about being a deadbeat?  Well, after reading your original question a few times, I have to say it seems like you judged your self and published it here for the world to read.

I would imagine more than one person came to the same conclusion, but one had the balls to say it.

And I don't think the additional details were of much help either, to admit your credit was even worse in "98" as you say.

  2. I don't know about Oregon? But I've bought three vehicle here in Ohio at a buy here, pay here lot and they never lasted as long as the payment did so I've learned my lesson. So I wouldn't worry about my credit score as much as I would getting a good running car. If you are buying a car from anyone "private owner or dealer" always to it to an auto repair shop and have them look it over before you purchase the vehicle. This shouldn't cost you a lot of money and could save you hundreds or even thousands of dollars on repair bills. If anyone refuses to let you have the car inspected then pass on the car because they are most likely hiding a problem from you.

  3.   This is possibly one of the best questions I've seen in recent weeks.

An obvious dead beat looking for reliablity in a car dealer.

In your shoes I would be happy just to have dealer talk to me about a car that actually runs, let alone worry about his backround.
