  1. Cascade Mountain is 45 minutes out of Madison.  I ski there all the time!

  2. You already got your answers as far as skiing.

Why not go west? Man, after I dropped out of junior college when I was rather young, that's what I should have done. Joined the Navy instead. Now I'm in Utah, but 10 years older.

You never get your youth back. And if you want to ski, and you are young, now is the time.

Best of luck in your decision and college.

  3. Locally around Minnesota and western Wisconsin?..Afton Alps....Buck Hill....Hyland Hills...Troll Haugen....Wild Mountain....Spirit Mountain....Lutsen Mountains...there's more! Check em all out online when you get a chance.

  4. Your choices are quite limited in this area. The best are not very good, but I would recommend:

Madison: Tyrol Basin (20 miles west)

Mpls: Welch (1 hour south east of St Paul)

  5. Try this:

  6. in wausau theres a place called granite peak which is pretty good (wausau is about 2 hours drive from madison)
