  1. In Mexico life is GREAT if you're rich, but it sucks if you're poor.

Like the USA only more so, and the qualifiers for each category are different (i.e. rich in Mexico isn't the same as rich in the USA).

  2. Now this is where I like seeing Mexico or Mexican questions, not in the immigration category.

But no, the Mexican government doesn't cater to its poor people, only American tourists (even Mexican American tourists like me) and they forget they have people dying and starving, and leaving to the US, and I don't think they care, or else they would have dealt with that a long time ago.

  3. Nope! No Jobs! but everything else is fine. Hospitality is

real, food is good even if I don't like everything. Summer

time everywhere for the most part. You can live on a fourth

of what it costs in the U.S.

  4. The Internet is full of good news.  For instance everybody will tell you the age of consent is 12.  The Mexican police still think it's 18.  Stupid cops.

  5. Mexico is a great country, but not the bargain paradise for retirees it once was. Baja Norte prices are comparable to the southwestern US. Taxes went up 500 percent during the Fox administration, so the retirement home turns out to be very expensive, electricity costs are outrageous, and propane gas as well. The rich buy half million dollar condos on the beach and drive up prices of everything. We can't go back to the US because we can't afford it there either. 5 US dollars an hour for poor Mexicans looks good to them, and they'll keep coming. Old US citizens will be living on the streets, maybe in both countries.

  6. Mexico is divided into two countries: the poor and the rich. Rich people live like americans, they have a big house with a couple of recent model cars and spend their vacations in Florida, but then there's poor people. Even with a respectful job you can starve to death, minimum wage is about 5 dollars a day. So a public school teacher can earn about 400 dollars a month when a private college professor can earn 3000 dollars a month. Anyway, there's corruption and crime, but it's not that simple. For example, more people are killed by firearms in the US than in Mexico (UN report on crime).

Things that are better in Mexico: weather; food (burritos, chili con carne, nachos, taco salads are american plates, but they make you think they are mexican); soccer; ancient architecture and archeological sites and museums (while native americans were nomads mexican indians had some of the most outstanding civilizations. In the year 1000 Tenochtitlan, today Mexico City, was the most populated city in the world.); Biodiversity: Mexico is considered the second country in the world in ecosystems and fourth in overall species; the National University, ranked among the 75 most prestigious universities in the world with three Nobel laureates. Finally, Mexico is the 12th largest economy in the world, if there's so much poverty is because of corruption, the legal system, and the way large corporations are benefitted by the politicians.

Mexican history is in some ways comparable to African countries. After centuries of colonialism and european looting, mexican politicians were never able to lead the country to a properous future. The US case is different, because americans were europeans who became independent from the the UK. Europeans had arrived to virgin territories (there were nomad nations but not complex civilizations) and created a european state in the American continent.

  7. Many great things about mexico.  I was born in Mexico, but raised in the US.  I am a US Citizen and Mexican Citizen also.  Jobs in mexico are good if you have a good education and live in big cities or come from a rich family.  The government is or worst than the US.  Trust me, the people who come to the US would rather stay in mexico. The mexican government doesn't care about the common poor person and in helping them out, they only care about them and that really sucks! My father & mother left everyone to come here.  They wanted my brothers and sisters to have a good life, but always missed their family and way of life.  It is very sad that they had to do this.  Mexico has culture, great food, vacation locations and yes many Americans, Europeans, Germans live in mexico.  My father is retired and stays in Mexico, we miss him very much but understand that his money can last him longer in mexico than in chicago, il.  Oh! and not everyone crossing the border from mexico to USA is mexican (Guatemala, Ecuador, Peru, All of South America) have to cross mexico's border to the USA.  If you want to find good things about mexico, just go and visit mexico, everyone will be very friendly and treat you good. My husband and i can't wait to retire in Mexico.  My parents still have their lands and i can own it!, but i have my own.

  8. Sure. The road to the USA.

  9. it's interesting trend.  we have a lot of people coming in from mexico illegally for jobs.  we have a lot of americans going out of the country to mexico to retire because they can't afford to stay in america.  they buy housing cheaper there and can live on fixed income more affordably. medicines / doctors are much less expensive there.

other than the beach and the economic advantages if you are american, i can think of nothing else good about the country.  their government is just as corrupt or even possibly  more corrupt than ours.  the drug cartels are helping the terrorists.
