Are there any good way to get rid of pavement ants without killing them?

I know you said you don't like to harm anything.  I am not sure how to deter the ants from your home.  They are obviously a big fan of something around there.  If you do decide to kill them and want something that won't harm your cats, use a mix of cinnamon and sugar. The ants will pick up the sugar, along with the cinnamon, and take it back to their queen. Ants can’t digest cinnamon and once the queen dies from not being able to digest the cinnamon the colony will die without her.  This mixture will not harm your cats.  In all the years I have been using this my animals haven't even been curious about it.  Even if they are and they get into it, it's no big deal.  It's not going to effect them in anyway.

burn them with a magnifying glass. Just singe them.

Sweep them up and dump them back outside.
