  1. Apparently, emancipation is not available in every state, and there are different regulations depending on where you live.  Here's a fact sheet from the Juvenile Law Center: http://www.jlc.org/factsheets/4/  You can go to your state and see what the regs are.

Here's another site that seems to have a lot of info; I don't know how reliable it is, but it seems to be pretty up-front.  http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-an-emanc...

Here's a bunch of Q&As on a legal site, you may find something helpful there.  http://answers.uslegal.com/category.php?...

From what I know, you will need to get an attorney involved; this isn't something that you can do yourself.  However, places like Legal Aid may be able to help you either pro bono or for a very reasonable price.

I would also suggest asking this over on the Law/Legal forum - there are likely some attorneys and/or judges over there who have worked with this and would be able to help you.  You may get better info by giving them details - how old you are, your basic situation, and what state you are in.  As far as I know, emancipation is granted by a judge on a case-by-case basis.

    Hope that helps!
