  1. Kendo Stick (resembles Samurai blade) u only use that

  2. All sword fighting.  No sticks in kendo.  They use real swords, shinai (bamboo swords), or bokkens (wooden swords).

  3. Shinai or Bokken, I do not recall ever hearing of many modern Kendo schools using real blades, I think that's Iaido, but I may be wrong because I'm not a Japanese Martial Art Specialist, and it depends on what school, some old school Kendo dojos also teach some Jujutsu techniques in addition to swordfighting arts, but most of them stick to just the blade.

  4. none-

    kendo is all stick fighting.

however traditional sword did not restrict strike areas and as such throws grapples (not what you think) and tying up your opponent's weapon were all part of sword training.

kendo is fun- and a good healthy and safe way to let off some steam. but it is not a picture perfect sample of sword- too many differences. it does compliment sword training in kenjutsu or any other traditional sword art, but don't expect to be able to just jump in and think that the only difference between kendo and traditional sword (any style) is that you pick up a bokuto or waster instead of a shinai.

  5. Kendo is a sport akin to fencing. The techniques used are related and adapted versions of those used in kenjutsu, but using a substitute for a sword made of bamboo called a shinai. The arts closed to kendo which use hand to hand are Jiujutsu and Aikido.
