My kittens are completely normal and playful, but occasionally have one eye that is goopy and won't open. Also, the eyes do not appear to be red or inflamed.

  1. Kittens with any goop in the eyes need to be seen by a vet. Home remedies almost always end up making things worse and more expensive to treat. Eye infections will not clear up without antibiotics and I've seen kittens lose their eyes from not being treated. These are the only eyes your kittens will ever have so don't skimp on caring for them. It's not expensive and it's always better to be safe than sorry.

  2. You can use a clean wash cloth to gently rub the gunk off, just make sure its damp, not wet first. That should get rid of the gunk, but I would check with a vet to find out whats causing it. Better safe than sorry...

  3. Is the pupil of the eye enlarged or dilated of over 1 hour?If so take your cat to the vet .Tell your vet that you think your cat has Retinal Atrophy. Do not try treating this condicition or it may make problems worse(ie: blindness cataracts)

    hope this helps!
