That just didn't work? Is there one that failed miserably even after many good recommendations?

  1. All of my brothers and sisters said that putting bacon on a boil over night will make it come to a head.  never worked for me

  2. As an adolescent, I had many painful ear infections.

    I read that heating a pillow with the hair drier and then holding on the

    afflicted ear would sooth the pain. I tried it, and at first it seemed to help, but then it actually became worse and the pain was unbearable.

    Probably the only ones that ever worked for me were;

    *warm salt water mouth rinse for a toothache

    *pinch your lip to relieve a spasm

    *massage the top of your head with your fingers, to relieve a tension headache.

    and last but not least- rub the side of your leg, just above the knee-

    to relieve an upset stomach or motion sickness.

  3. I tried many over the years and the only one that ever helped was rinsing my mouth with salt and warm water for a toothache.  It could have just been the warm water that made it feel better for a while.  Not sure.

  4. I haven't tried too many home remedies but some of them really do work. Soaking your feet in Listerine for athletes foot and toe nail fungus, Also Listerine on a cotton ball for pimples . And don't get me started on the many uses for vinegar.

  5. only one i ever tried is my great grand father believe in the health benefits of booze --  any way i have a few every evening and i am never ill!!

  6. My husband convinced me to try to put a cotton thread around his wart, like his grandmother used to do.  I'll never know if it works, because I was laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes and I could not get the string on.

  7. Only one I ever tried was a honey/lemon mix for a sore throat. Don't remember if it helped.

  8. The old apple twig chewed on the end to make a field toothbrush, wound up with a mouth full of wood,,

  9. I've had lots of home remedies, some work some don't.  My mother had an aunt that I'd guess we would call her an herbalist today, back then it was probably a witch ! ! LOL . . .At one time she even worked for a traveling circus as  their "medicine woman" . . .Good old Aunt Rose ! !

  10. Well, swallowing a teaspoonful of vinegar cures my hiccups instantly. And my mum used to wring out a washcloth in hot water, enclose it in a woolen sock, and tie it around my neck to ease a nagging cough (it worked pretty well). On the other hand, my grandma burnt my chest with a too-strong mustard plaster, trying to ease my breathing when I had bronchitis.
