  1. YES! i saw the broadway touring in Des Moines Iowa last year and its WAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than the movie. i love the song Think of me, and i love the scene Prima Donna and The Phantom of the Opera! GAAA! me loves it! ♥♥♥♥

  2. I loved the movie, with Gerard Butler and Emmy Rossum. I couldn't believe how wonderful it turned out. The book, however, really didn't live up to my expectations. I was disappointed with it, to say the least.

I've never seen the stage production - but, I'd definitely love to have the opportunity. I've heard it's fantastic.

My favorite songs - and scene - would have to be at the end, with "Don Juan" and the "Point of No Return." It was  performed very well. It's the one scene that really sticks out in my head, when I think of the movie.

"Masquerade" was amazing, too. All of the choreography and such was certainly impressive - and the Phantom's dramatic enterance at the end was very cool.

I definitely think that the phantom is a more intriguing character - Raoul got very annoying sometimes. And I have to admit, in spite of it all, I was rooting for the phantom the whole time.

  3. Yes, oh my gosh! I get to see the stage production for the first time next month for my birthday and I'm so excited!

My favorite songs are "The Phantom of the Opera" and "Point of No Return," partially because they're amazing and partially because they're ridiculously fun to sing along to :D

Hmm, my favorite scene is probably either when they sing "Masquerade." I love all of the costumes :) And the beginning, going from black and white to color-- such a cool effect!

And, while Raoul is alright, I like Erik better :D Christine should have stayed with him...

  4. My Fav Song Is 'Somewhere'

Hold My Hand, And I'll Take You There !!! MAKES ME CRY

  5. ::throws both hands in the air:: I love phantom!

I actually prefer the book to the movie, but the stage show eclipses both. Have you ever read "Phantom" by Susan Kay? It's a retelling of POTO from the Phantom's POV and it's absolutely heartbreaking.

I much, much, much prefer the Phantom. I would have stayed with Erik! (Okay, maybe not, but it's a nice thought.)

My favorite song is "Masquerade." My favorite scene from the movie was the very beginning when the dusty old opera house came alive and went back in time. My favorite scene in the stage play is always when Christine steps through the mirror and sings with the Phantom.

  6. Yes, I like to consider myself a huge PHAN of Phantom.

I too like the stage version so much better than the movie. The movie started my obsession, along with the book, but when I actually saw it on Broadway, I was blown away and nothing else mattered but that version to me for awhile. I have come to love all things Phantom. All of the movies, even the silent one with Lon Chaney. I love all of the books, and have read almost all of them. (Yes, even Phantom of Manhattan!)

My favorite scenes are probably Wandering Child and the Final Lair scenes....they are both so beautiful.

I prefer the Phantom to Raoul, but I like Christine being with the Phantom. It makes more sense, and it allows the Phantom to have his redemption by letting Christine go in the eend. It proves how much he actually did love her by the fact that he sacrificed his own happiness with her, so that she could be with Raoul. Absolutely beautiful. I have been obsessed with it for years, and I know that I always will be. It is just my life now.

  7. omg

this is such a hard question!

i think my favorite song is going to have to be think of me

and my favorite scene is first few when carlotta sings think of me and then she storms out of there and then christine takes over

phantom is my fav he is really dreammy

im going to go watch it right noww

  8. Absolutely! I love the music the romance the clothes scenery and the hair. The best ever.

    Anna del C.

Author of "The Elf and the Princess"

and "Trouble in the Elf City"

  9. Okay, I think this belongs in movies, but I'm a sucker for all things Phantom. I've listened to it obsessively since I was a kid. Raoul was a milksop. So the Phantom had a slight murder problem! Yeesh, so what? He was awesome!

Incidentally, since this is the books and authors forum, I feel compelled to recommend you read the original novel by Gaston Leroux, or the book Phantom by Susan Kay.

  10. Team Phantom!!!

"Wishing You Were Some How Here Again"

Raoul doesn't believe her until he has to and the actor in the movie seriously needed to cut his hair, there were times when I couldn't tell who the girl was of the pair.

The Phantom on the other hand is that guy from PS I love you.

  11. ME ME ME!!!  I LOVE POTO and know all the songs.  I even take singing and dancing classes in the hopes of being Christine one day.

It's so hard picking my fav song outta all those astonishing songs, but if I HAVE to say, I'd probably pick "The Point of No Return".

My fav scene is many also, but I'd have to say the "All I Ask of You" scene: it is SOOOO romantic!  I'd have to say it's probably more romantic in the film, but the musical is just as brilliant, if not betteeerrrrr!!!  I also LOVE when (on stage) Christine is entranced by the Phantom and steps through the mirror, it looks so REAL for a stage production!

I like the Phantom and Raoul both for different, obvious reasons: I like Raoul because his love for Christine is different than Erik's, but the Phantom is more mesmerising and powerful.  They're both fantastic.  Sometimes I wish Christine had gone with Erik, but in the end, I think Raoul and his life were better for her.
