Are there any insurance adjusters out there

today I was at the dmv and when I got in my car I looked behind me and no one was there as I was more then half way out this guy in a pickup was pulling out also and hit me who is at fault on this one the police came out and said it was both our faults and to let our insurances fight it out it was clear for me when i pulled out and i was already more then half way out what will the insurance companys say

Who is at Fault means little in this and many cases.  Just report it to your insurance and let them and the other insurance company  fight it out.  One or both of them will pay.  You trying to find who was (more) at fault won't do you one iota of good anyway.

"She said, he said...." - we hear this c**p a million times a year. There is nothing worse that trying to establish liability in a parking lot accident so unless you have some independent witnesses just be ready to split the fault 50/50.

It does not matter who started to back out first.

Both drivers have a duty to make sure the way is clear before and during backing.

Both of you are at fault.
