Are there any interesting books similar or like The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini?

I will be reading A Thousand Splendid Suns here soon.

Any other books you would recommend that are similar or like The Kite Runner ?

I'm currently reading The Bookseller of Kabul by Åsne Seierstad.  She is of Norwegian, so isn't particularly biased not being from a country Afghanistan has passed conflicts with.  She lives with a Afghani family for three months, just two weeks following the 9/11 attacks.  Covered by a burka, she tells the true story of this family, in a story like manner, continues the fabulous insight into Afghanistan like the Khaled Hosseini books also do.  Definately worth reading.
