  1. NO,

  2. I've always been a bit suspicious of men who become gynecologists...ulterior motives much?...

In all seriousness: No. I don't think so. People are people...are people.

  3. Surrogate mother

  4. Not that I can think of.  Just like women, I think that if the person can do the job, then it doesn't matter what gender they are.  Both men and women can do surprising things and neither should be excluded if they're capable from any job.

Er.... well, I just though of one.... For comfort sake, I don't think a male should be a female bathroom attendant.  I think that would make both parties a bit uncomfortable.

  5. Yes those gynacolgist people or doctors who specialise in b*****s who are male. I dont get it. Its a total rape situation.

  6. none that i can think of

  7. Yes,Men should be excluded on some certain jobs  >" oldest profession"(Prostitution,) strip tease dance on a poll, for the reason they might  hurt their" jewel". Gynecologist is  a dead business with men,no woman would like a stranger to look and poke  her love tunnel with cold instrument..

  8. Since there are no legal rights or special previleges for men compared to women, there are no jobs to be excluded from them.

But being practical, one may think about excluding men from jobs that require physical contact with naked or sparingly clothed female body (such as taking care of female patients) or with working with sexually vulnerable people such as little girls, a woman away from humanity working in a desert, or women working in night shifts etc.  THIS IS SEXIST.  Whatever the statitics and common sense tell you about the cases of crime in these situations, it is sexist to deny a male for the job because you think he might do inappropriate things due to his gender.  Society and its judicial system has made it proper that he cannot escape with it.  They even tag sexual predators.  So If you want to take extra precautions based on the applicants gender alone and no back ground checks, it IS sexist.

  9. As I've said before, I think there are some jobs where it is appropriate that the person performing them be of particular type of person, but those jobs are the exception rather than the rule.

Where the man (or woman) can do the same quality of job *everything else being equal*, then to decide based on gender, race, whatever is obviously discrimnatory.

An example would be the fire brigade.

For many years NSW women were not allowed to join the fire brigade regardless of how strong, fit or qualified they were.

This was justified because lots of MEN were excluded, too ~ short men, men without sufficient strength, etc.

In recent years, the policy has changed, and women can now join the fire brigade. And so can men who don't meet all the old fashioned qualifications.

Has this meant a *worse* fire brigade? Of course not ~ those people with less physical strength, can drive fire trucks, do paperwork and generally take a lot of unneccessary workload from those who DO have the attributes to shinny out of 15th floor apartments carrying an elderly person and cat.

    But it doesn't always work.

There are some jobs, mostly in human services, where someone of the wrong 'type' would not be appropriate.

Women in crisis situations speak more easily and comfortably with another woman as point of first contact in a women's shelter.

Women who phone a rape crisis line almost always want to talk to a woman.

Women attending court for the first time in the process of separating from an abuser almost always want another woman to accompany them.

In those cases, it would simply be pointless putting men into a job which required them to face rejection or cause more distress to people already in crisis.

Equally, it has proven to be ineffective to put women in jobs which involve youth work with teenage boys ~ boys of that age respond much better to a responsible and caring male influence than to a woman youth worker.

None of that says those people aren't caring, intelligent or valuable, but when it comes to personal care or crisis, yes, there are some positions it is more appropriate to seek a man or woman for particular jobs.

As long as these genuine requirements are not used to disadvantage one or other group with lower pay or inferior conditions, I regard it as legitimate to require a particular type of staff member to fill certain roles.

BTW: I think the example of excluding male gynaecologists is silly. Some of the best gynos are male, and some of the best prostate specialists are women. It's medicine, not perving!!! If the doc is inappropriate in their behaviour that is the doc, not the gender!

    Cheers :-)

  10. Wet nurse

EDIT: whomever thumbs downed me... do you know what a wet nurse is?  Probably not... it's not a normal nurse, I'll leave it at that.

  11. No I can't think of any.

  12. President of the USA

  13. Not at all.

I am a male primary teacher of young children (I also teach secondary school), and I have copped flak from some people who believe than men must be kept away from young children.  I rebuke this utterly, and stake the claim that there are not enough male reachers, especially for the smaller childre, full stop.

I have also worked, as commented above, in hospitals where I was required to have physical contact with naked/semi-naked women on occasion.  It is a very unsexy situation (those thoughts actually never even cross your mind: it is a job).

Men need only be excluded from jobs that we patently cannot do.  The wet-nurse example is one such.  I have no issues with male Gynaecologists.  I have no issue with female urologists treating men.

Then again, being British, my attitude differs a bit from the generally conservative views I have experienced in the US.

Where I currently live - Australia- we use the -best person for the job-  criteria.  That puts the best person where they are needed.  There is one job in my state that a man cannot have where gender cannot affect ability, and that is the position of Equal Opportunity and s*x Discrimination Commissioner for the state of Victoria.  Apparently, our loony leftie government thinks that only a woman can fill this position.

  14. Men should be exempted from working as doctors for women's genitals
