I've been told that it is illegal for a 12 year old kid to baby sit, and i don't feel like getting a job at the carwash. what if i babysat in my neighborhood while a mother was home? would that be okay? and how would i let them know that i am available? every time i hang up a sign, it's taken down within the next 3 hours!!! i am in desperate need of something to do this summer. oh, and if anyone has any other suggestions for summer jobs that allow 12 year olds, please include that in the question. thanks :)

  1. there is nothing working a little side job at 12. where are you hanging up your sign?  make sure it's not on someone's private property.

you can wash car, mow lawn, clean windows.  knock on your neighbors door and tell them that you'd like to make a little cash for the summer and see where they can use your help.

  2. Not sure where you live, but in many states, it is NOT illegal for a 12 year old to babysit. (See source below) I started babysitting when I was 12.

But I know its hard, a lot of moms just don't want a kid watching their kids. So what I did was I got CPR and Safe Sitter Certified. Check with the Red Cross in your town for classes. This is a big plus with moms, especially if you're young.

Then, start with your parents' friends, have them ask their friends and co-workers if they need a sitter. This is how I started. If you live in a sub-divison type neighborhood, see if they have a newsletter, usually there are classifieds for sitters in those. If not that, I'd try putting flyers in mailboxes around your neighborhood.

Tip: because you're young, don't ask for much money. I'd say ask for $5-8/hour (depending on how many kids and what ages) to start. This will make you more competitive in the babysitting job market.

    Good luck!

  3. you could mow lawns, do chores for people in your neighborhood like washing windows and such. go out there, door to door and tell them what your doing. good luck kiddo!

  4. If there's anything you can get MONEY for, it's weeding. Weeding?! Yes, I know it sounds tedious, but you can charge a freaking ton of money for weeding. EVERYBODY wants their garden to be weeded.

Umm, I babysat when I was ten. She lived three doors down and she was two years old. I made good money and there was never any trouble. Honestly, I don't think they're going to come at you if you babysit...but start small. If you have cousins or friends with kids, suggest babysitting.

If you have a local craft market or something like that, you'd be amazed at how easy, fun, and profitable it is to whip up something creative and spend a day selling it.

Garage sales are always a good way to raise a little bit of extra pocket money. Ask your relatives or frineds if they have any junk you could take off their hands, and offer to clean the garage for your mom and sort out all the stuff you don't use anymore. Then make posters and signs and place them around the neighborhood! If you can, place an add in the newspaper for more traffic.

  6. Technically by state it matters how old you are to baby sit here in Illionois it is legal to babysit at 12 before 7.pm

i would work little jobs for neighbors i raked leaves in the fall, shoveled snow in the winter at 12 and i stil am 12,you could make a small business ask around if there is anyone interested in a 12 year old who mows lawns. Do not post little signs they will be taken down most likely ask your parents for a allowance as long as you work a little around the house start at like $5 a week for doing the dishes, taking out the garbage, and behaving all seven days of the week. It is illegal to have children have a legal job like a cashier but you could make a lemonade stand and be your own business and in san antonio i would say thats a good idea. Maybe look through all the stuff at your house and ask your parents if you can sell some of it because it no longer interests you. Ask your parents if you can get the money fro mwhat you sell. Good luck =)

  7. Sorry dude. Nationally, you have to be at least 14 to work ANYWHERE, and with a special waiver and a million restrictions.

    I have a couple suggestions.

One, start a "mini-business". Find something popular and easy to do/make. Then sell to people on sidewalk or w/e. Like a Lemonade Stand type thing.

    or..

Do simple things like mowing lawns or be an errands boy, you know? Small chores for neighbors, stuff like that.

Dude, your 12. At 12, I was still playing with toy guns with friends and stuff during the summer, not working.

  8. try cutting grass or washing windows
