Question:

Are there any kinds of live plants that a pleco and 2 oscars wont destroy?

i have a large piece of drift wood in my tank if that would help them make it...

  1. The only way to keep any live plant in a tank with oscars and plecos is to get a sturdy tank divider and keep the fish on the other side.  Oscars and plecos are famous for being rough on plants.

    Plants are worth getting the divider since they do such a nice job of naturally cleaning the water.  My angelfish have a dwarf papyrus in a pot in their tank.  Papyrus is tough enough to resist them, but not an oscar or a pleco.


  2. Hi,

    They won't eat plastic plant but they will dig it up so what i have found is if you place pebbles or pieces of slate around the base of the plant then as long as they are heavy enough then the oscars can't dig the plants up.
