Are there any large companies (fortune 500 or 1000 size) that are nonprofit or have good intentions?

I'll be graduating from college in about a year with a degree in economics and I am starting to get things together for finding a job when the time comes. I would love to work as a budget analyst or doing something similar in a large company, but I am not excited about working for a company where the only goal is to make the big guys money. Are there any big companies out there that have higher intentions than making money? Like a hospital or service organization that is large? Thanks

  1. There is always something for them to gain, it might be wealth, power, influence, ...  But I assume that's OK for you.

One of our clients (self made man worked himself from blue collar parents) is more focused on protecting the Western culture. It's quite refreshing to see how it influences his way of doing business.

    - Fair wages are better than low wages, because fair wages help sell the possibillity of the American Dream

    - Green Technology is important because it's better fo the Western image and lowers dependency of imported oil/energy

    - like all businesses he is continously seeking for large scale advantages, not to gain superior negotiation positions but to use less resources to do the same work.

(it doesn't seem to hurt him financially)

  2. Berkshire Hathaway

    Microsoft

    IBM

    United Way
