  2. McCain winning the election will be close enough

  3. NO, he can not declare martial law, without the approval of congress. in any case that would not be a 3rd term.

    He has no desire for a third term, and his party would not support him for a third term.

    SO it si pointless to even speculate.

    The next president will either be McCain or Obama. And if all goes well for this country it will be McCain, if not it will be Obama.

    And if you are trying to make a veiled reference that McCain is another Bush, I would rather have Bush 2 than Carter 2.

  6. actually there is. if the country is in a war the leader can not change. so unless Bush pulls the troops out before he gets out of office he can not legally leave office.

Bush could declare martial law, claiming it is in the best interests of national security not to change administrations, especially if he attacks Iran before he leaves office [which the White House just recently has adamantly denied published reports that he plans to do so]. Since Bush has revoked the Posse Comitatus Act of 1879, he can declare martial law without the consent of Congress.  -RKO-  06/14/08
