  1. Yes.  They need them for the attack animals.  I believe they keep seals and dolphins for anti terrorism.  I heard they keep them in San Nicholas island in San Diego.    


  2. Yes, quite a few.

  3. Absolutely--both services do a lot of research.  That's been true for many years--I have an Internet pen pal who spent 33 years in the Navy, most of it working on marine research projects.
