Are there any more Dark and Gritty anime out there?

I think i have watched all the good anime, right now i'm watching Code Geass, i already watched Death Note, Darker Than Black, Vampire Knight, i'm starting to watch Blade of the Immortal. Do you know of any more dark anime i don't like naruto or bleach very much. It would be very appreciated if anyone could reccommend a few.

Fullmetal Alchemist is pretty dark, although they like to plop some humour in at some points. I think it's one of the best anime out there, and you should definitely watch it :) Wolf's Rain is pretty dark as well.

Well, if you'll go further than just Anime into some Manga, than I can give you a couple of suggestion in both category:

Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni is a popular 'suspense' anime (lots of cute girls in it)

Boogiepop Phantom is of a similar 'suspense' anime idea where you have to watch the whole thing to get the whole story

Uzumaki and Gyo are some pretty good 'dark' Mangas (can be found on onemanga.com)

Manhole is another decent 'Dark' manga

Parasyte is another Manga-suggestion

Though the mangas I suggest are of the 'horror' affiliation for a warning.
