Are there any natural and effective remedies for restless leg?

I have had restless leg with both of my pregnancies and ended up on Ambien to be able to sleep. But last night and this morning (no, I am not pregnant) my legs feel like they are being tickled from the inside. I need something I can do today/tonight to help them feel better. I know not to have any alcohol or caffeine today. Is there anything else I can do?

  1. Restless Leg - Recommended Protocol

    Supplements:

Calcium 1500-2000 mg daily in divided doses- between meals and at bedtime.

    Magnesium 1000 mg daily

Melatonin 1.5 mg daily, gradually increasing dosage until effective level is reached. (up to 5 mg daily)

    B Complex

    Inositol  100 mg at bedtime

    Herbs:

Hops, Passionflower, Skullcap, Valerian, Catnip or Chamomile.

    General recommendations:

In addition to caffeine and alcohol, avoid nicotine, pork products, cheese, and chocolate.

Take a hot bath one hour before bedtime.

  2. There is a homeopathic product called "Leg Cramps with Quinine" that many people get relief from. It's listed as "traditional homeopathic remedy for the relief of cramps and pains in the lower back and legs."

There are many people who get a lot of relief from this product and because it's homeopathic, there are basically no side effects (it stimulates your body's natural healing responses).

Some people use Magnesium, Potassium, or just stretching for leg cramps... but it depends on how bad they are. If it's that severe, I think you'll need more than just that, though. Good luck!

  3. I use to have restles leg syndrome and it was fixed with taking 300-500 mg Magnesium (depends on the type you take, with Magnesium citrate you can take 300mg) and 100mg Vitamin B-6 but take it no longer than a month...after than just continue with a B-complex a day..

    Good Luck

  4. Besides dehydration, too much caffeine or too much booze RLS can also be caused by a deficiency of potassium, calcium, magnesium or vitamin B6.

  5. Yoga, stretching.   Lots of it!

    Edit:

Hey!  Someone gave me a thumbs down.   Yoga has solved a lot of my health issues, including sleep and restless leg.   Even helped me progress past a fitness level that I thought never could.   I would be very leery of taking advice from someone giving thumbs down to people.   It causes negative energy!

Good luck with your problem----I hope you feel better soon!

And that's coming from the bottom of my heart!
