Are there any natural cures for fleas?

I had once heard that putting garlic powder in the food will help repell fleas from dogs. Is this true? Any other suggestions?

  1. If you want to control fleas on your dog, use Frontline once a month. You can put a brewer's yeast (You can get a BIG bottle at Wallyworld; not very expensive, and in dog-section) in their food once a day. Once ingested, it can give off odors and enzymes through the dog's skin that somewhat repels fleas. It's not foolproof, but it helps.  Frontline is your best bet, however.

  2. NO Not even over the counter treatments work.

Vets have the licence and expertise to know the correct strength, etc: for your dog/cat.

Though you may think this is expensive, in the long term

it works out cheaper as it does the job it is supposed to do.

  3. i've heard garlic too some dog foods use it as an ingredient too

  4. The only definite cure for fleas is Frontline or other similar flea products.

  5. look on line for natural flea collars I have seen them on line.but you also have to keep your house and yard flea free

  6. yes, garlic kills fleas. add to their food.

you can also give them a bath in dawn dish detergent. however, it's not a preventitive.

you can use a flea comb. just make sure after each brush, you let it soak in soapy water to kill the fleas.

i would recommend frontline (even though it's not natural).

here is a great website that gives a lot of ideas though...
