  2. hmmmm. . . well i know if you give dry grits to ants they'll explode next time they drink water. . .  

  3. There are solutions with nicotine that will take out or repel quite a few bugs, and insecticidal soaps of several varieties - but specifics really depend on what kind of insect you're gunning for.

  4. a few cloves of garlic (just squash them a bit) with either liquid soap or disolved soap from a bar, not much is needed, steep it in about a pint and half of hot water, like brewing tea. Leave to stand for a couple of days and you have a great alternative pesticide for many insects.

  6. growing marigolds  and cosmos near your garden help bring natural preditor insects to kill the bad ones. Cayanne pepper and water make a good derterant. I also have used brown soap and water to keep bad bugs away. What exactly do you need to protect?

  7. Sure. There are many pesticides that are derived from plant extracts.

    A few to look at is:

    Neem - There are several combinations.

    Cedar Oil

    Perilla Oil

    Garlic Oil

    Sesame Seed Oil

    Gerniol

    dLimonene

    And several others.

    Also there are bacterias such as Bacillus thuringiensis that is used as a pesticide.
