Are there any natural remedies that work as anti-depressants?

I mean herbs and things that have real anti-depressant chemicals in them.

  1. "Herb" is the only herb I know of for natural anti-depression!

    But this is not something to take with regular anti-depressants or with St. Johns Wart.  Combining two or more of these drugs can lead to a health crisis that could put you in the emergency room.

    Passion flower is also helpful, but again, don't combine.

    Milk Thistle is also known by Silybum Marianum. It works to relieve chronic inflammatory liver disease, is a liver protectant, and chronic Hepatitis. It also might help to treat cancer.

  6. If for certain it is depression, than St. Johns Wart, here in the US is used, it is not supposed to be taken as an adjunct with Prozac or other same such chemical combinations.

    If it is anxiety, than Kava root is better

  7. I used to use this syrup called "Positive mood enhancer" made by St.John's Wart.It really helped a lot! You can find in a vitamin shop,or wherever they sell herbs and vitamins.

  8. 'Real' Antidepressant chemicals would be classified as pharmaceuticals and thus regulated by the FDA.

    The closest natural herbal formula that I have found to real antidepressants is a product called Panicyl.

    It works great for my anxiety and depession.
