  1. Ilkley River is not too far from Leeds - I've been swimming there and it's nice.


  2. You'd be safer going to either, a stream to paddle in (lots in the Yorkshire Dales near Harrogate, or otherwise your local swimming baths! Perhaps you could get a Coastliner to Whitby, Scarborough or Brid from Leeds (or Yorkshirexpress from Harrogate, changing at York to the Coastliner), and go to the beach for the day?
