  1. I don't know if you could find the percentage or not because not everybody would tell the truth on their forms.

Yes.  There are non-Christian homeschoolers .   I think this is a strange question because it would be like asking if there were non-Christian bus drivers, store clerks,  housekeepers, etc.   There are non-Christians everywhere, so why could they not homeschool?

  2. Yes. My niece, nephew, cousins, siblings and I are all non-Christian homeschoolers.

It is a myth that home educated = Christian or even that home educated = religious.

  3. I agree with Janis B.

The reason it is hard to find a percentage for any form of home schooling Christian, or otherwise is because not every state requires parents to send a notice of intend to home school, notify the Superintendent, or register their home school.

Therefore there are many more home school families in the US than you will find listed on any statistics, since they can only count those who have the requirements to register, or notify.

At the high school level this becomes even more complicated, because some states do not require any youngster to attend school after they have passed the age of being subject to the mandatory attendance laws; often times this is at age 16.

Many parents choose not to register, or notify the Superintendent after their children reach this age, even though they are still actively being home schooled.

The most accurate statistics I have found on home schooling is at http://www.nheri.org/

For statistics on specific groups you may have to do some research, and contact these groups directly.

This may take some time, but you can find all kinds of individual groups on the Internet, Jewish, Christian, mormon, muslim, pagan, new age, you name it.

If this is for a research project, I would suggest starting early.

  4. Hi, I'm one.

I don't know the stats. I'm betting we make up about a quarter of homeschoolers. As I understand it; homeschool began with a more "left" crowd. It became understandably popular among the "right" set in the eighties and has been gaining popularity across the board since then.

  5. Sure, there are lots.  Homeschoolers cover just about every demographic, other than those who just plain don't homeschool :-)

You wouldn't be able to find the percentage, because it's not something that's recorded anywhere.  Many states don't even require homeschoolers to register, so there isn't even a firm number of homeschoolers - much less a number broken out by religious views.

  6. Good grief -- there are thousands and thousands of us!

The percentage is difficult to ascertain because, generally, consensuses are not kept for this purpose.

  7. Tons! I happen to be one of the many.

That's like asking if there are any non-christian private schoolers... Or non-christian public schoolers... Or non-christian human beings.
