Are there any non-goofy-looking electric cars for sale under $20,000?

I'm interested in driving one, but I don't want to fork over so much dough to drive one, you know? So I was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of an electric car for sale that isn't so goofy looking (I'm talking to you, Mr. Xebra), and the price tag is lower than $20,000.

ROFL, yeah, that's going to happen. Sorry to inform you, but I believe that because electric cars is a relatively new thing (I realize it started in the '90s) it's going to be expensive, and even IF you managed to find an electric car for UNDER 20k, chances are very high that it wil NOT look beautiful, and it's entirely likely it WILL look goofy. The only NON-goofy electric car I've seen is the Tesla Roadster, but that costs a pretty penny.

The Civic Hybrid is partially electric.  Honda has a pure electric in the works (on their website) that may be marketed in one or two years and looks absolutely neat.

Edited:  That Honda (CR-Z) is a hybrid, not pure electric.  Although it may be produced in 2009, no one is saying where it may be sold.  May be Japan.

You best bet right now is a Japanese hybrid.  Very efficient and cost effective electric cars were developed during the 1990's, and then effectively suppressed in the USA.  I'd highly recommend the movie in the link below to anyone interested in alternative vehicles.  It covers the whole hydrogen thing too.

The average price of a conventional car is over $30,000 with most econoboxes being over $20,000.  You're asking a lot!

There are neighborhood electric vehicles (NEVs) which fit your criteria, but their top speed is 25 mph.  Some examples are the Zenn and Miles EVs:
