Are there any nurses out there?

I overdosed on vitamin c chewables, meaning I took too much. I was taking 3200% of my daily value everday for three straight months. then one day i woke up and my skin was darker.

imagine hot tea. my normal color is the water, my skin after the overdose is the hot tea because all of the floating toxins are still in the bloodstream clouding my normal complection.

question: my nurse said to take psyllium husk and drinking tons of water, but it's already been like 5 months and it is still not out of my system.

Would charcoal supplements be a more effective route to absorb the extra vitamin c? 10 points to best answer!

please no rude comments are needed or necessary. thanks.

  1. I agree with the nurse from Iraq- I think that you need to see a APNP with a specialty in dermatology, or a dermatologist. Also, I am wondering if you are taking anything else that could contribute to your pigmentation change? Additionally, there are other disroders that can cause changes in skin color (Addison's, etc.) and you may need bloodwork to rule out any disease process.

  2. I can't really give you an exact but I would assume it isn't going to go away if it hasn't in 5 months. Vitamin C is water soluable meaning in order to survive it must be replaced on  near daily basis. I do not think charcoal substances such as activated charcoal would have any effect because the charcoal is mostly used in acute cases in the ER or in transit for overdoses. The charcoal is only effective if the product (usually tylenol or aspirin) has been in the body for less than 1 hour. if the product is absorbed, stomach pumping and charcoal are useless. In those cases we use acetylcysteine which binds to toxin preventing liver damage again in acute situations. The acetylcysteine is given 1-3 days after say suicide attempts or accidental overdoses of certain chemicals.I would have liver enzymes or a function test taken after speaking to a doctor. 5 months of a crazy darker complexion if caused by vitamin C and nothing is worked there is another reason not the vitamin C that is "clogging your complexion". I recommend someone who is far smarter than myself and has more tests available check you out. It is most likely not going to go away on its own and your vitamin C binge may have hurt something else resulting in your increased pigmentation.
