Determine first what problems have historically been found in the orchard and the area so you know what to expect. That said prevention is key to the plan. You need strong plants to limit problems as a start. Blossom time in Florida is past and fruits are now growing. Backing up though, keep as clean an orchard as possible removing all plant debris to minimize carrying pests and disease from one season to the next and either burn it or haul it as far as possible. Mulch or groundcover.

If you have fungal problems you can try sulfur in liquid soap availavle locally and is organic. That can also be mixed with seaweed extract and will improve it's fungal abilities. Wait 4 days then before applying any other product to limit conflicts. There are also commercial organic "live" beneficial microorganisms available to cultivate the plant surfaces, the thought being that the populations of those will squeeze out the bad micros just by being there.

It was published in the Philippine Organic Network that there were 45 plant species surveyed with insecticidal properties. Field test of different crude extracts showed that tobacco plus detergent and combined extracts of 'kakawate', 'tubli', and ripe 'sili' plus detergent (KTRD) were effective against mango leafhoppers. Furthermore, KTRD as bio-spray was also effective against mealybugs attacking mango flowers. However, tip borer and lepidopterous insects were not controlled.

Incidence of seed borer damage on mango fruits was minimized by spray application of different extracts (tubli, tobacco, 'lagundi', 'atis', and 'makabuhai'). However, these extracts were not found effective against mango fruit fly sprayed 80 days after flower induction.

Potential users should take note of the following: (a) age of the botanical extracts that NMRDC was using since the amount of active principle might differ with age; (b) method of extraction; and (c) proper identification of plant species because local names might differ from place to place.

spraying of neem extracts, castorseed extracts, mustard seed extracts, cow urine etc can control pests and insects at a large.  It is a very good idea to convert your farming to organic farming.  Don't shift directly to organic farming as you are used to applying synthesized materials.  slowly convert your farm by applying vermicompost, animal manure, poultry waste etc.  gradually your farm will become more fertile and yeild will also increase.  in the coming years organic products only be in great demand.  wish u all the best
