OKAY, LONG STORY SHORT. I'M ON SUSPENSION FROM F/A, NO SCHOLARSHIPS WERE AVAILABLE AND MY CREDIT ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH FOR A LOAN.....HOW ELSE CAN I PAY FOR COLLEGE UNTIL I PULL UP MY GPA? I HAVE 3 KIDS WORK F/T AND HAVE BILLS TO PAY, ALSO.

  1. What I'm personally doing instead of financial aid is network marketing. This is a great vehicle to pull in extra cash and this industry is just incredible.

You know what, I actually saw a couple guys drop out of college just to continue doing this because it's making them that much money.

I just started but because I see what kind of potential this could have on people lives, I'm recommending it. So my opinion is, to get into this industry, own your business and start making profit instead of wages.

  2. That is a really hard spot to be in.  Once you are on suspension you lose your federal aid eligibility until you bring up the GPA.  Most students in this case will use private loan funding to substitute for federal aid.  It's the logical progression.

With less than great credit you will find it hard in todays economy to find a decent private education loan that you can be approved for.  Your best bet there is to find a willing co-signer to help you.

You may also want to consider going less than full-time (which I think you may already be doing with kids and a FT job).  Take a class at a time and work out a payment plan for them while you rehab your GPA.

In all honesty, there are no easy answers here for you in this situation.

  3. Nice answer, Woelfe.

The only thing I would add is:  When your aid was suspended, were you offered the chance to appeal?  If so, did you appeal?  If not, check with the Financial Aid Office about their appeal process.  If this was a one-time issue, they may give you a second chance.
