Are there any other animes or mangas that are as good as death note?

i mean animes not like dragon ball z which has pathetic duologue no intelligence in the plot and there is no real theme exept for who can win the most fights and become the strongest. okay you get the idea i cant stand dbz. so anyway I'm looking for an anime or manga that has a complex and well thought out plot, a premise that isnt childish and something with decent characters and a theme like deathnote. maybe what im looking for doesnt exist but there has to be something better than dbz and naruto etc

I like Death Note as well. I would suggest Naruto if you like something with a little comedy, lots of action, emotion, and some pervertedness. It's a great series to my friends and me.

Also, there's Destiny's Hand. I've only read the first volume, but it's great. If you like Pirates of the Caribbean, you'll love Destiny's Hand.

Fullmetal Alchemist amazingly peaked my dad's interrest. It's extremely interesting, funny, and emotional.

Soething like Death Note?

Witch Hunter Robin. She's... you know. Epic.

You might also want to try Ghost in the Shell, which has a good plot. Very complex.

Although I haven't even watched a lot of episodes, I would also suggest... maybe... Code Geass.
