Question:

Are there any other bikes whose starter cylanoid (spelling?) are interchangeable with a 1982 Honda CX500?

My husband has the 1982 Honda CX500 and needs a starter cylanoid for it. Now I know some car parts are interchangeable, so I'm wondering if the same can be done for the motorcycle.

  1. Yes, the CX500 shares the same part number with the CX500GL and the GL500, and are an easy to find part.

    Here's one on Ebay that I found with one click...


  2. Solenoids are pretty much all alike other than the external shape and the type of connection for the small wires.  Just about any would do, try  checking with an auto parts store like NAPA.  They should have a big book with pictures of all sorts of solenoids.
