Are there any other programmes like Audacity out there?

I know you have to pay for Audacity or something - but are there any free alternatives?? It doesn't need to be flashy or anything - just able to record from the computer and to convert music files into mp3 format!

Any help would be really appreciated!

No, actually, you don't have to pay for Audacity.  Audacity is free.  Most OTHER audio programs you do have to pay.
