  1. There are actually lots of different places.  However, for most people, the arm is the easiest to access and the least painful.  I have mine taken from the wrist or back of my hand.  My experience is that most phlebotimists freak out over that, no clue why.

Tell them you are a hard stick, even if you arent and they will be a lil more careful.  Drink plenty of fluids because if you are dehydrated it makes it really difficult.

  2. There are loads of places to draw blood, from finger or toe sticks (ouch!) to groin sticks to neck sticks... but the inside elbow area (antecubital fossa) is probably the easiest and least painful.

Don't look when you get stuck.

  3. The veins in the back of your hand, but hand sticks are usually more painful that those drawn in the arm.  Finger sticks are typically not adequate and heel sticks are reserved for babies...

  4. When I was a kid, they used to do finger sticks to get the blood.  There are a few problems with this.  The first is that it's hard to get enough blood with one stick, and you often wind up needing another.  The second problem is that (in my opinion), it actually hurts more!  The fingers have many more nerve endings than the arm.
