Are there any parks near Montgomery, AL with beach areas/lakes/etc.?

I just moved here and I'm looking for a place where I can hang out in the sun during the summer and I need some sort of beach/lake/river setting. If anyone knows a place nearby that offers tubing/canoeing, that would be fantastic. Please help me - I hate being landlocked! :(

  1. Well Montgomery is about 4 hours or so from a beach. However if you've never been Gulf Shores Alabama is beautiful.

    I'm not sure of many lakes around that area.  Check with the local tourism bureau in town.  I know the Alabama River runs through Montgomery
