i really need some help with this;

a friend wants to move from the US to the uk, but after reading all the stuff on the home office web sight, we're both confused

some of the stuff isn't very clear and some of it seems to contradict its self and now it seems almost impossible to get uk citizenship if you don't live within the EU

so, any uk citizens from outside the EU PLEASE contact me!!!

  1. It is very easy.  You need to live in the UK for a certain number of years.  If you have enough points to qualify under the Tier 1 (General) migrant rule or have a very in-demand skill, you can get a work visa and move to the US.  Otherwise, you cannot.

  2. You can work but it depends on the conditions of your visa. For example if you get a working visa you're expected to work. A student visa usually means that you study full-time but work up to 20 hours a week. Spousal visas vary, and tourist visas do not allow for people to work. Check out the UK embassy in the US for more details. They'll help you out a lot more.

    To get British citizenship (when you're not born British) you need to live a number of years (usually 5 but if your spouse is British it's 3) in the UK legally. To have an extended stay (Americans can stay up to 6 months without needing a visa) to ensure you can stay legally in the UK y ou need to get visas and then Indefinate Leave to Remain (a UK visa which has no restrictions on your stay).
