Savage has many meanings, especially based on who is defining it. Just because a culture has technology does not mean it is not savage. I would say a culture where s*x is glorified in the media and people are given death row is more savage than a tribe in South America that is more community driven and has values such as taking only what you need from mother earth.

well i don't use spears but i am one of those ppl that don't have every gadget and am not obsessed with keeping up with the joneses if u know what i mean. more power to the simple ppl and are not willing to jump on every band wagon.

yep, I even heard of some savage ppl who dont have cellphones or wifi!  Can you believe how crummy they must live.  No Yahoo, no dreams.com, no screennames or face pages.  Man, I'd die if I had to live lke that!  I bet they even have to talk to each other in person....yikes!!!

I bet they even have to --gasp--cook their own food!

Be very careful what you call "savage".

The Masai have a very well defined social structure that has existed for hundreds of years.

The nomadic peoples of the Middle Eastern deserts have been successfully living as they do for a very long time, also.

There are aboriginal people in the jungles of South America that have amazing and novel languages we're only beginning to understand.

The United States government system was, in part, modeled after the government systems of the North American native people.

Yeah, these people don't have computers.  They don't drive cars.  They feed themselves by subsistence farming and by hunting with something besides a gun.  Ever tried to hunt with a spear??  It takes amazing knowledge of the animal, the environment, and skill with the weapon; much more than blasting away with a firearm that kills at 1000 yards.

In a pinch, if it came down to the basics of food and shelter, I'd put my money on a "savage" rather than someone who lives in front of a computer or a video game.

i would say that more technically-advanced cultures such as europe, the u.s., etc are more savage than tribes of africa,south america, oceania, etc.
