Are there any phone companies that will let you use a phone line ONLY for the internet?

I know MCI doesn't.They said they wouldn't let me do this unless I at least had their "basic plan".I have a local company for dial-up internet because I can't afford 50-60 dollars a month for high speed.

yes, go to www.5linx.net/lab. this website offers VOIP (voice over internet protocal) service. your phone bill will only be $24.95 a month for unlimited calling to anywhere in the world. we have the service and love it.. you should also check out there high speed internet service while you're there too.. once you open the link under products and services you'll see internet...something.. but just put in your zip code and the cheapest internet prices will come up in your area... you'll have to have high speen internet to use the $24.95 service

Hey you are in luck! I was just on the phone with AT&T and they have a new DSL plan that does not require a phone service. It would save you money on your phone bill and you have higher speed access.

The plan is between 25.00 to 40.00. It is still cheaper than high speed and cheaper because you are not required to have basic phone service.

You have to call them though, because I don't think the information is on their ATT.com website. You can call 1-800-288-2020 for more information. (note I call this number from WI but that shouldn't matter, as they will find out where you live and they will help you).

Of course, it depends upon DSL availability in your area. As far as dialup...well...I am finding out dialup is not very useful any more for my business. You can't really do much with it. Besides, if you get DSL you can use a MajicJack or other VOIP system for a business telephone and you can get just as clear calls. It would save you a lot of money.
