Are there any plausable theories for speed of light travel in space at the moment, ?

And is NASA doing anything at the moment to futher our space travel, ie a manned mission to Mars, thank you for your answers

  1. I recall reading something about a possible manned mission to mars in the next 50 years or so. In face wikipedia gives a date of around 2030 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manned_miss...

    I doubt very much that we'll achieve speeds near the speed of light simply because of the immense amounts of energy required to accelerate to those speeds (and also slow down).


  2. Ah, now if Einstein had taken into account Frequency in his E=Mc2 equation, We would be well on our way into interstellar space.

    He only had it half right and was wrong on the fact that the faster we go towards the speed of light the heavier we get.

    The fact is this is just the opposite when taking into account the changes in Frequency the faster we go.

    However, no materials we currently have will withstand those speeds until they come up with the 6 phase liquid ceramic compound to mould a ship out of and "Magnetic Current Anti-Gravity" power sources.

    There is also something called "The Galactic clock theory" they are working on now.

  3. with humans intelligent, we of course can make a speed that is as fast as light speed, but there are many problems involves, thought of asteroid, worm hole, gases, junk rock, black holes. materials is very important, i guess, because as the speed of light, any miscalculation would end travel mission.

  4. You cannot attain the speed of light. Because;

    E = mc^2,

    (you never see this part)

    where;

    m = m'/sqrt(1 - v^2/c^2)

    As you can see, as v approaches c, v2/c2 approaches 1, and the mass of the object approaches infinity. Clearly an object with infinite mass would be trouble, thus it is speculated that objects with a non-zero rest mass cannot travel the speed of light. (Light has zero mass) (Not to mention that it would actually have an undefined mass rather than infinite because you cannot divide by zero.)
