Are there any political <span title="organizations/associations">organizations/association...</span> to join?

Question

I’m starting to get very involved with politics (not sure if I’m Republican or Democrat so I’m Independent for now) and I would like to know if there are any political groups that I could become a part of so that I could further my knowledge in politics as well as offer my support. Any ideas?
