Question:

Are there any pollution removal solutions being implemented at this moment?

Pollution.

It has been accumulating for the past 150 years or so.

There is all this talk on reducing pollution and minimizing the negative effect we have on the environment. Which is an obvious necessity with the global awareness of the change in climate due to air pollution. So, this action is good.

But is it enough?

Also, I have not heard about any organization that is actively involved in the removal of the pollution already in the environment. Does anyone know of any such organization?

The word "environment" was used in writing this question and not the word "atmosphere." Pollution is in our land, water and even in living organisms. We need to remove all this pollution to reverse the negative effects of our societies activites on the environment. Is not this true?

  1. This is a rebuttal  of the answers placed by each of these people

    _______*jleblanc,

    _______*Brian A.

All these points jleblanc numbered 1 to  5, are not saying there is not a waste management issue, nor do they say that there is not any pollution in the environment.. jleblancs, numbered points just exposes that persons ingorance to the waste and pollution issues that are current. Check these out. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_env...

All these technological advances that  jleblanc mentions have made the pollution  less visible, but  the negative effects are much greater. It needn't be pollution though. Pollution is just waste in the wrong place.

jleblancs' last sentence is the most untrue. More and more land is being cleard for  human habitats and farming and the material of  wood from the trees. [1],[2]

jleblanc has to be joking when that person says "air quality is improving." This is completely false. Everyone can see  smog in many major cities around the world. Don't let me mention Chinas air quality.[3]

jleblancs' claims are both lacking a basis in fact and indicative of the lack of awareness of the our relationship with, dependence on, and inseparability from,  the environment.

The other person , Brian A, ignores the fact that pollution and waste are materials. As they are materials they can be  exploited, reprocessed and used in industry. The income potential can be assessed by those who are in a position to  invest in the exploitation of the pollutant materials and  waste.

The "clean up" of pollutants need not be an additional cost that people need to break their piggy banks to pay for. This is just an incorrect assumption  made by Brian A who is apparently ill informed.

In the end, poor lad Michael is still without an answer to his 4 part question.

  2. The EPA:

Cleaning up the environment is much more expensive than preventing it from getting polluted in the first place. In some instances it is truly not feasible to remove pollutants and the only option is to wait for natural processes to do the cleaning.

  3. There is lots.  The single biggest factor in the reduction of pollution is economic development and technological change in virtually every aspect of our lives:

    1.  Use of oil and gas reduces air pollution caused by burning coal, wood and animal dung.

    2.  Higher crop yields reduces the amount of forest cover that needs to be cleared for farming.

    3.  Motorized transportation has eliminated the health hazards created by horse droppings in city streets.

    4.  Plastics and other new materials have reduced the need for wood and allowed farmers to switch from fibre and dye crops to food crops.

    5.  Modern infrastructure has eliminated the effects of raw sewage and garbage in the streets.

By virtually every measure- air quality, water quality, soil contamination, forest cover- the environment has been improving dramatically over the past 150 years.

  4. U are one of these ,so do we need to eliminate u for hyping garbage.
