Are there any problems with Honda civic model 2001 and newer?

I have spoken to a mechanic and he told me that the newer civics are known to break the piston rings easily...I am considering buying a civic and I wanted to know if there is any truth to this? ...or if they are know for any other problems? Thanks in advance.

well im a mechanic and a Honda owner also and personally ive never heard of this problem from any Honda. maybe from years of abuse and neglect of course any car would give out.

i heard that automatic transmission were dying at 70k miles and up

and need to replace
