Are there any quick and simple solutions for a sore body?

I just started volleyball practice this week, and its going great...except for the fact that I have so much built up lactic acid, I feel pain whenever I move. I was just wondering if there was anything like a home-remedy of the sort to help me feel better.

  1. I know what your going through, I play C-Football and Ive been there done that hehe. The best thing to do is drink as much water as possible, hydrate hydrate hydrate. A good Protein shake will help you rebuild those sore muscles.Take ibuprofen to help relieve your pain and don't ever forgot your best friend Ben-g*y( unscented) of course :D if you have access to a hot tub USE IT, your muscles will thank you for it.

    Hope this helps...works 4 me

  2. Stretching.

  3. Take a bath in Epsom Salt. It helps a lot when your muscles are sore.

  4. Muscle pain is not due to build up of lactic acid - that's an old wive's tail. Your muscles are just not used to the strain you're putting on them.

Try over the counter anti-inflammatories like Aspirin or ibuprofen, and either hot packs or cold packs (different people have different results - see what's better for you).

And don't push yourself so hard.

  5. If the pain has been going on for more than 48 hours you might try taking warm baths. Also ice any really bad areas after practice (the general rule is 20 minutes on, 40 minutes off, repeat).

The other thing is you may need to stretch more often than your teammates. Unfortunately most sports practices don't do nearly enough stretching. A lot of people choose do do yoga, but any full body stretch session will do. One I like is in the Carmen Electra Striptease workout video DVD 1. There is a really nice stretch session that includes all the major body parts. Do stretches every day, and you should start feeling much better.

  6. i was on a volleyball team to and had the same problem.

take a bath and when you sleep use lots of blankets. the heat feels really good when your sore.

  7. stretch, stretch, stretch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! spend awhile stretching, sit in front of your favorite t.v. show or put in a cd and just stretch it will work wonders for you! make sure you drink plenty of water and if you want try putting biofreeze or icyhot on your sore muscles...you can also use heat or ice but otherwise just wait it out a few days and you'll be good to go!

  8. Contrast showers.

Start them out hot, and then turn them cold for a bit, hot, cold etc.

It really loosens up your muscles and feels great afterwards.

  9. Stretching, warm bath and keep moving.
