I'm a recently divorced and retired woman who finally has some spare time and really enjoy quilting. I'm trying to find a group of ladies who share my passion and are in the new york city area. Thanks in advance for your help!

  1. I can't imagine there would be too many that weren't "open to the public" though you might have to join after coming free a few times.

Here's a list of some of the actual guilds around NYC, but there may be many more small groups (associated with the guilds or not) that get together, or get together to make things for specific reasons, etc:

    Manhattan Guilds:

    Empire Quilters: http://www.empirequilters.net/

    Quilters of Color: http://www.qcnny.org

    Studio Art Quilt Association: http://www.saqa.com

(...*that one* may be by invitation only)

    Brooklyn Guild:

    Quilters Guild of Brooklyn: http://www.quiltbrooklyn.org/

    Queens Guild:

    Richmond Hill Piecemakers: http://www.angelfire.com/ny3/rhpiecemake...

    Staten Island Guilds:

    Staten Island Quilters Guild: Naknar@aol.com

Moonlight Quilters of Staten Island: Naknar@aol.com

    Long Island Guilds:

    Long Island Quilters' Society: http://www.liqs.org

Evening Star Quilters, Mineola, NY: http://www.eveningstarquilters.org

You could also try some of these links, or ask at local quilt stores or perhaps at fabric stores:
