Are there any real practical applications for a jet/wing suit?

aside from recreation, what else could you do with a jet/wing suit?

You could jump off a plane and glide to your destination instead of flying to the nearest hub airport and getting someone to pick you up.

The current "wing suits" that are available are interesting items.

But at present they are merely add "slightly" more control during free fall.  You can not glide safely to the ground.  I think sometime in the future however with the proper advances in materials and aerodynamics it would be feasible to glide toward your destination or LZ and use a much smaller canopy and deploy it below the radar deck.

I am sure the military would consider it as a way to covertly infiltrate someone in a restricted area.
