  1. Fasting and detoxing are not necessary.  Any product that is sold for those purposes is really worthless.

In the end all that matters is how you eat.  Eat plenty of fiber and drink plenty of water.  Eat food that doesn't take like 3 days to digest like meat.

As a vegan, I never feel like I need detoxed.  I am assuming you don't mean detoxing from drugs though:)  I don't do drugs.  That's just dumb.

Fasting is not safe.  It will deplete your stored nutrition.  You might even pass out.  I don't know how anyone could think that starvation is a way to "detox"...

Eat healthy for a while and you'll be fine.  And the best thing is the fact that you won't have to spend hundreds of dollars.

  2. The good thing is?  You don't have to. While there are some great products out on the market, they all claim they are best and the only one you need to buy, and they vary in price from affordable to well, sell your first born.

I recommend doing your research on the effects of detox to the body, this includes information on what natural substances will be best and what you should eat, to minimize the effects, like headaches, bad breath, body odour, aches and pains and other things. Faster is NOT better. Most importantly and especially if you have a lot of toxic buildup in your system. Your  body is sensitive to change. So detoxifying has to be done gradually and gently.

Anyway I'm spouting on and on lol. I recommend you two books that have served me extremely well since before I was born (one of them is passed on from my dad's library before I was born).

Back to Eden, by Jethro Kloss

Prescription for Nutritional Healing, by Dr, James and Phyllis Balch.

I live by the second one now because they put out a new edition constantly to keep up with new knowledge and information.

I detox somewhat regularly, when I feel that I haven't been too kind to my body. But I am pretty good about what I put in my mouth anyway so it doesn't happen that often.

Good luck! And go gently with it! You'll feel better (but if you feel worse during the process, don't be alarmed, as I said your body produces a range of unpleasant side effects in the process of detoxifying-those are natural effects and not cause for alarm or that something is going wrong.)

  3. Try a juice fast.  This time of year, it is fairly cheap.  You'll need a vegetable juicer (borrow one if you don't have one) and some organic vegetables.  If you have a garden or know someone that does, this method of detoxing will cost you next to nothing.  If not, go to local farmer markets to buy produce.

Limit your fruit drinks to one per day.  Do not consume more than 10 glasses of vegetable juice per day (8 fl. oz. glasses).  Drink a variety of different vegetables.  Do not eat or drink anything but the juice and water for 5-7 days.

Every time I have tried a juice fast, I have always felt very good.  My vision improves and colors become more vivid.

  4. Eat raw fruits and veggies, its also like detoxifying your system. Buying and trusting those expensive detoxifying kits is unnecessary. Search on google "raw fruit diet" and "raw vegan", youll see alot of interesting and better detoxifying methods.

  5. The Master Cleanse - or the lemonade diet - will cleanse you at home, and inexpensively.
