  1. No,but we do have quarantine camps for illegal immigrants. They are kept here until they are processed back to their Original Country or a given a visitors visa if applicable. They are not very welcome as they jump the queue that legal immigrants have to wait for.

  2. Yes, they are called detention centres.

    Cheers

  3. Yes they are called Detention Camps

Australia has a policy of mandatory detention

for all refugees and asylum seekers who arrive by boat on its shores. This represents a radical departure from any other country that signs the United Nations Conventions - The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).

Mandatory detention of asylum seekers places Australia at a great risk of becoming a nation which commits human rights abuses of the first order.

Not only places it Australia at a risk of that, it also has already been evidently shown to be so.

  4. yes but they are called detention centres

  5. Yes, there are, and they have recieved some very negative worldwide press.

Australia is the only nation the the world which orders the mandatory detention of children, and had been admonished by numerous organisations for that action. There have been numerous cases [3,000+] of children being held for years in detention, some from the day they were born.

Also, feel free to google, the excuse of queue jumping does not apply many times. Recall, Australia is one the few nations you must pass immigration to leave - and there have been cases of people incarcerated as they were trying to leave.

Also, the Australian government has in fact detained actual Australians in the refugee camps by error. One well known case was Cornelia Rau who was held for 10 months.
