Are there any reliable ways to learn greek easily? Greek translation..?

Question

i promised my boyfriend, who lives in greece, that i would begin to learn his language..as his family do not speak good english..this is going to be hard for me..[i learnt spanish at school, and found that difficult..now ive got to deal with non english letters!] im trying so hard, ive applied for a course on the internet, hopefully when the payment goes through i can start, it wasnt expensive, so im not expecting anything great, just SOMETHING, im slowly picking up some words, but im finding it very hard because of the different alphabets ect..

has anybody learnt greek recently? any tips or advice?

[ive got a little notebook in which i write down words/phrases which i have learnt, and any translation made is also going in there so i can learn what the words look like..i dont know if this is a good idea ornot??]

also could somebody help me to translate this??

If your boyfriend lives in Athens, and you can afford it,  I would go over and do a short course at the Athens Centre  http://www.athenscentre.gr/- they have three and four week immersion courses, as well as longer ones. I have done three courses with them (one in Athens and two in Spetses, where they have a course in the summer) , and they're wonderful. Their courses in Athens are repeated year round at all levels. The web site Filoglossia http://www.xanthi.ilsp.gr/filog/uk_menu.... isn't bad - they're free up to lesson ten, which gives you the basics, and then you pay if you want more - I don't know if this is the web site you're involved with.
